10 OUTSTANDING EVENTS IN 2020

Even though the end of the year is busy, let's not forget to look back at the typical achievements that Vietnam has achieved in a turbulent Covid year.

  1. MIRACLES IN CONTROLLING THE COVID-19 EPIDEMIC
    First of all, we must mention Vietnam's miracle in preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic thoroughly and effectively. Quarantine and prevention of spread in the community are carried out seriously and strictly, so Therefore, the number of cases in Vietnam to date only stands at 1,420 cases, of which 1,281 people have been cured. 
  2. VIETNAM HAS CHAIR OF ASEAN
    Vietnam takes over the rotating chairmanship of ASEAN 2020 amid the extremely complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, causing many serious socio-economic consequences for countries in the region. Thanks to Vietnam's leadership, the ASEAN "boat" has smoothly overcome the pandemic, achieved most of the goals set in 2020, looking forward to a 2021 with many new opportunities and challenges.
  3. PARTY CONGRESS AT ALL LEVELS TERM 2020-2025.
  4. THE EXTREME NATURAL DISASTERS have left behind heavy damage to people and property
  5. THE "FIRE BURNING" WORK CONTINUES
    Two members of the Politburo and three members of the Party Central Committee were disciplined in 2020.
  6. STARTING CONSTRUCTION OF MANY LARGE TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
    - Long Thanh airport project
    - North-South expressway projects: expected to be completed in 2023
    - My Thuan 2 Bridge and other major projects.
  7. ESTABLISHMENT OF CITY. THU DUC AND CITY. PHU QUOC - an important step in increasing the proportion of GDP in both the Southeast region and the whole country.
  8. REACHING A SERIES OF IMPORTANT TRADE AGREEMENTS
    - Vietnam has successfully negotiated the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) after 9 long years of efforts.
    - Online signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) within the framework of the ASEAN Summit chaired by Vietnam.
  9. "WAVE" OF UNPRECEDENTED DIGITAL CONVERSION
  10. HIGHEST ECONOMIC GROWTH IN THE REGION
    Vietnam is one of the few countries that has achieved both the goals of epidemic prevention and socio-economic development with a GDP growth rate of 2.4%, among  highest in the world.
